Flåm & Aurland
Nestled along the stunning Aurland fjord, our business property has been in the Wangen family for generations. Today, under the ownership of the fourth generation Wangen family, we uphold traditions while adapting to the changing times, developing the property and expanding into hospitality with the Fjord Resort brand.
Our story began...
as the property changed ownership amidst financial challenges. Our great-grandfather took over the business – a store located in the grandest building, serving the needs of the local residents. Under our great-grandfather’s guidance, the business thrived with a strong focus on supporting the local community.
Beyond the main store, our property housed several buildings along the harbor, each playing a unique role in the village. One served as a butchery, producing local sausages shipped to Bergen by ferry. Another, known as the “village storage,” held goods arriving from Bergen for the village residents. A third building was used for storing goods for the family store, which was the center of our business and the heart of the village.
Today, as fourth-generation owners....
we uphold our family’s traditions while adapting to the changing times. We continue to run a store within the historical main building, now transformed into an outdoor clothing and souvenir store, keeping our connection to the local community strong.
Adapting to modern needs, we’ve expanded into hospitality with the Fjord Resort brand. The newly constructed Wangen Apartments stand on the very grounds that once housed the storeroom and butchery, bridging the past with the present. Also under the Fjord Resort umbrella, Aurland Guesthouse and Flåm Station Apartments extend our commitment to providing exceptional stays in the region.
Our passion lies in welcoming guests to this beautiful region, and we are enthusiastic about continuing the Wangen heritage in this new chapter. We invite you to be a part of our ongoing journey. Welcome to Fjord Resort.
Mall of Norway
Beyond accommodations, we run various shops in the area under the unified brand Mall of Norway, proudly showcasing outdoor clothing from renowned Norwegian brands, alongside a range of souvenirs. Our largest store is situated in Flåm town center, while we also have a store in Aurland, by the Fjord Resort reception.
